longest reading log from spring break?!?!)

Reading Month Reward - A Movie at the Strand

PPEE read over 15,700 books in the month of March.  That's AMAZING!! To celebrate, we took a gorgeous walk to the Strand Theater in Paw Paw to see Alvin and the Chipmunks in "Chipwrecked".  The students had a wonderful time (as you can see!)

Fifth Grade Reading Buddies Visit Room 27

For Reading Month, we paired up with Mrs. Abbott's fifth grade class at the Later Elementary.  Our schedules haven't cooperated well for us to read together often, but we squeezed in a quick visit on Friday!  The first grade BUGS sure impressed the fifth graders with their reading abilities!

Spring Planting

Img_1641Img_1638Img_1642Img_1643
We planted marigold seeds in February and now, a month later, we transplanted our little baby sprouts to bigger clay pots.  We noticed how some of the stems were red and others were green.  We peeked at the roots and counted the leaves.  Then we put them back in the windowsills for plenty of sunshine so they can keep growing!

A Visit from "Mr. Al Nino"!

The BUGS learned about all kinds of wacky weather from Mr. Al Nino of the Kalamazoo Nature Center on Wednesday.  They learned about seasons, what makes the weather, and why it is important to have all kinds of different weather.  "There's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes!" Mr. Al Nino said!  There was a lot of giggling, dancing and learning going on!
