The Farm Bureau came to visit second grade today!
They read a book to us all about Michigan agriculture!

We made "farm charms" to remind us about all the things related to farming!

We put up pictures to represent all the aspects of our life that farmers help us with!
From food to animals to water to land, farmers are super important!

Thank you, Farm Bureau for teaching us so much about Michigan agriculture today!

As part of our Reading Month celebration,
author Amy Logan came to visit the Early Elementary!

She read her story, "A Girl With a Cape" to us.

She reminded us that we are all superheroes
and we can all save the world with kindness!

We did an experiment this week to see what, exactly, a stem does for a flower.
We thought we had a pretty good idea (delivers water and nutrients to the flowers and seeds)
but we wanted to prove our thinking.

We put food coloring in water and when we came to school the next day we had colored carnations!
It was awesome to SEE that we were right about stems!

As part of our Reading Month camping theme, we read with flashlights on Friday!

We had no idea how much fun it could be to turn off the lights...

...find a cozy spot...

...and read by the light of a flashlight!
We can't wait for next week!
