We had a very special visitor in our classroom today and he brought several birds for us to see up close and personal!

We listened to their songs, whistles and calls!  They were all very different!

We saw a horned owl, listened to its call and learned about the raptor!

We saw owl pellets with bones from a mouse, vole, or other small animal inside!

We touched feathers and listened to how noisy turkey feathers are and how quiet owl feathers are!

We saw a mallard and learned why the male ducks have much more color than the females.

We saw a screech owl and learned how it catches its prey!

We saw a hummingbird and its nest!  They are both so tiny!

We also saw a picture of what hummingbird chicks look like when they are four days old.

We learned how important it is for hummingbirds to make their nests from spider webs!
