We have been learning about our government and today, in honor of Constitution Day, we learned about the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.  We learned about how the delegates had to compromise to create a set of rules for the new government and so we worked together to create a set of rules for our classroom.  The students came up with the following:

We the students of Room 18, in order to form a more perfect classroom, create these rules to make our classroom a safe, calm learning environment where all students can succeed:

  • Treat others as you wish to be treated
  • Do the right thing even when no one is looking
  • Everyone should be focused and on task

The BUGS also figured out very quickly that our classroom is NOT a republic because I am ultimately in charge and they didn't get to vote me in!!

We had a great time learning about our country today and applying our new knowledge to our classroom!  Happy Constitution Day!
